EUDY has continued to implement impactful initiatives aligned with the European Commission’s priorities in its 2024 work plan, focusing on empowering youth, advocating for climate action, and promoting digital transformation. These initiatives include comprehensive campaigns, key projects, and events that reflect the EU’s core values and commitment to a better future.
European Green Deal – Europe aims to be the first climate-neutral continent by becoming a modern, resource-efficient economy.
EUDY remains committed to promoting sustainability within the Deaf community, aligning with the objectives of the European Green Deal through the Deaf Climate Action (DCA) Erasmus KA2 Project. In 2024, EUDY created accessible resources, including translation videos in sign language, to ensure that climate change information is inclusive for all. At the EUDY Children Camp, young participants engaged in environmental preservation through activities like hill cleaning, which raised awareness about sustainability and inspired a new generation of Deaf youth to advocate for the environment.
Europe Fit for the Digital Age – The EU’s digital strategy will empower people with a new generation of technologies.
EUDY embraced the EU’s digital strategy by integrating technology into our outreach, ensuring stronger connections within the European Deaf Community. Initiatives like EUDYnesdaysInstagram Live sessions and quarterly online meetings kept Deaf youth engaged, educated, and informed on issues affecting them. Additionally, the Cyberbullying Action Toolkit was updated to equip youth organizations with the tools to combat online harassment effectively. The Extraordinary General Assembly (EXGA) was also hosted online, promoting transparency and collaboration on crucial decisions.
An Economy That Works for People – The EU must create a more attractive investment environment, and growth that creates quality jobs, especially for young people and small businesses.
In alignment with the EU’s goal to create a more inclusive economy, EUDY completed the Make It Work Erasmus KA2 Project, providing Deaf youth with essential career skills, enhancing access to employment opportunities, and promoting equal opportunities in the workforce.
A Stronger Europe in the World – The EU will strengthen its voice in the world by championing multilateralism and a rules-based global order.
EUDY contributed to fostering international engagement by participating in key events like the Level UP Event for EU elections and youth engagement, advocating for stronger Deaf youth involvement in European democratic processes. At the EUDY Children Camp, cultural exchange activities highlighted diversity and unity across European nations, strengthening the European sense of identity and belonging. Additionally, EUDY hosted a seminar focused on strengthening the gap between EUDY and YNADs, enhancing communication, collaboration, and ethical decision-making to empower youth organizations across Europe.
Promoting Our European Way of Life – Europe must protect the rule of law if it is to stand up for justice and the EU’s core values.
EUDY actively participated in European Youth Forum General Assemblies to ensure Deaf youth voices were represented in discussions shaping Europe’s future. EUDY also maintained a Safeguarding Policy, ensuring the protection and well-being of all participants during events and activities.
A New Push for European Democracy – We need to give Europeans a bigger say and protect our democracy from external interference such as disinformation and online hate messages.
EUDY’s initiatives focused on giving Europeans a bigger say in democracy, combatting disinformation, and reducing online hate. With a focus on Cyberbullying, EUDY raised awareness and educated communities on how to combat online harm, ensuring safe digital spaces. We also shared key information about the EU elections, empowering youth to participate actively. Additionally, we submitted a letter to the UN, collaborating with The World Federation of the Deaf and DeafKidz International, urging global action to protect youth from online abuse.
