On 16 and 17 October the Italian Deaf Youth Association celebrated her 15-years anniversary with a youth festival. EUDY has been asked to come and give a presentation about the EUDY and our work. Also would we be a guest for the festival. From the board Dennis went to Orvieto, a village on 1,5 hour from Rome.
Before an audience of 300 people he gave the presentation, this went very well.
Florian Gravogl from WFDYS was there too, he told the deaf youth about WFDYS. This was very interesting.
After the presentations there were many speeches and when all the official part was finished, we got a gala dinner, with all Italian food and wine.
On 17 October there were lectures and workshops all the day. There were many different themes, like as Gallaudet, deafblindness, poem, theatre, etc. The Italian youth showed they can be very diverse, if it's about art, poem or many other themes. There were also stands from organizations for the deaf and there was also a lottery, with which you could win a Mac computer!
In the evening the closing ceremony was being held, with music, dancing, theatre and again speeches. The board thanked the board of CGSI for the invitiation and said that many other countries and the board of EUDY itself could learn much from the organization of the festival. This was in one word excellent!
If there's any other youth festival, you always can invite us and we're hoping we can attend those festivals! Just contact us!
The board.

On October 2nd it was time for the annual EUDY General Assembly, which was being held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands! This GA was a special one: we assembled for two days!
Friday in the morning the Developing Countries-group of EUDY arranged a workshop, at which the delegates and the observers participated. It was a very interesting morning, with a lot of idea’s about how to use money for any developing country.
After the lunch, which was being organized by the Dutch host, Adam Kosa, the first deaf Euro-parliamentarian. He told us about the system of the EU and the work he is doing. This was very interesting and he was very open to us. We could ask him questions whenever we wanted.
But after his presentation, it was time to open the GA. The GA was opened by the EUDY-president Jenny Nilsson and she introduced us the board: Ditte, Raffaele and Kilian.
The ex-president of EUDY Sean Herlihy from Ireland leaded the assembly and the assembly chose three tellers and two secretaries who would make the minutes.
The agenda was handled till point 5, then it was time to take a recess. That evening the people could go out to a café or take a rest for the long meeting the next day.
The next day the GA started at 9.00 am and here the statutes was being handled, the reason that the GA would take 2 days. Different motions was being approved or denied, with as result that the statutes were accepted and from now on the EUDY is really official!
Also there was a board election. All the board, except for Jenny Nilsson would resign and they were replaced by Philippa Merricks from the United Kingdom, Katarina Jalcova from Slovakia and Dennis Hoogeveen from the Netherlands. Everyone was happy with this and the new board members are looking forward to work together with the young deaf from Europe!
After the meeting there was a little reception to celebrate the fact EUDY is existing 25 years. Ditte gave a short presentation about the EUDY history, the new website was introduced by Kilian Knoerzer (Germany), Simon Bak (Denmark) and Truls S. Yggeseth (Norway).
When all the official hustle was over, it was time for a dinner for the delegates and other people who have been helping out at the GA, and a party in Aknathon with Holland’s Glory as theme!
So yes, we can look back at a very successful GA and together we’re looking at the GA in Swiss!!
